Where It Began

History

Founded in late June 1987 by its president Faramarz Jabbari AIA, NCARB, an Iranian American architect as “ARK Architects & Planning”; ARK  Architects Inc., a greater San Diego firm has provided professional services as the architect of record in the preparation of design and construction  documents as well as master planning, and in some cases neighborhood  planning for many large-scale multifamily residential developments, mixed use projects and commercial retail developments in California as well as the states of Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Washington and Oregon, some of which have received various accolades and acknowledgement.

 

A native Iranian, Mr. Jabbari received his Bachelors of Architecture and Masters in Architecture from Tehran University in 1973. From 1972 to 1974, Mr. Jabbari held a position with the government of Iran at the Building Department of Red Lion & Sun (the Iranian equivalent to the Red Cross). In 1974, he started his own company. Upon his migration to the United States in 1979, Mr. Jabbari became affiliated with Hope Architects and Engineers (formerly the Hope Consulting Group), Dale Naegle and Associates, Inc. in La Jolla, California, and the M.W. Steele Group, Inc.

Faramarz Jabbari AIA, NCARB

Mr. Jabbari was born in 1946 in Tehran, Iran. He received his Masters degree in architecture from the Tehran University. During his attendance in college he also worked at the Building and Construction Department of Red Lion and Sun. Later Mr. Jabbari went into private practice which continued until the 1979, the time of revolution in Iran, upon which he migrated to the United States and took residence in San Diego, California. Between November 1979 and June 1987 he joined three architectural firms in San Diego. In 1987 he started his own practice under the name ARK Architecture and Planning which was later changed to ARK Architects Inc. Mr. Jabbari has designed variety of projects such as Hospitals, Commercial offices, Hospitality complexes, Mixed Use projects, Commercial Office buildings, Commercial Retail, Master Planning, and Multi Family Residential, apartment and condominium projects, as well as Independent Living and Inclusionary housing. Many of Mr. Jabbari designs have won awards and received recognition.
